A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Know what a useful result looks like.

Export an ordered grid that covers the entire source.

Try this workflow

Start with
A 1001 × 751 image.
Set up
Choose 3 columns and 2 rows, then export the ZIP.
What to expect
The six PNG tiles cover all source pixels once. Column widths are 333, 334 and 334 px; row heights are 375 and 376 px.

Check before using the result

  • Check row and column numbers in filenames.
  • Do not assume every tile has identical dimensions for an uneven grid.

When the result needs work

The grid guides are a preview overlay and are not burned into exported tiles. Resize the original to divisible dimensions if equal tile sizes are required.

Examples illustrate specific inputs and settings. Actual output size and appearance depend on your file and browser. Practice images are synthetic; they do not contain personal data.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

More help

How are the pieces ordered?

Tiles are named by row and column. The order runs from left to right across the first row, then continues with the next row. All pieces download together as a ZIP of PNG files.

Will splitting lose any pixels?

No. The grid partitions the entire image. When its dimensions do not divide evenly, neighboring tiles can differ by one pixel so every original pixel is retained.

How many tiles can I create?

Choose up to eight rows or columns with no more than 36 tiles overall. Each tile must contain at least one pixel.

Are my images uploaded or stored?

No. These tools read and process image files locally in your browser. No account is required, and this workspace does not send filenames or editing results to our server.

Which images can I use?

Use JPG, PNG or WebP files up to 50 MB each, 8,192 pixels on either side and 32 megapixels in total. Animated files are processed as a still frame. For HEIC, use our HEIC to JPG converter first.
