Lossless PNG is the default, preserving the browser-decoded pixels and transparency. It can be larger than a JPG. The original-format option re-encodes JPG and WebP at 95% quality and can change pixels. Visible private details remain in the image.

Before you download
  • Check the exported file with a metadata inspector.
  • Cover visible addresses, faces or account details separately.

A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Know what a useful result looks like.

Remove embedded metadata before sharing an image.

Try this workflow

Start with
A photo containing visible text and embedded camera data.
Set up
Open the photo and download the re-encoded clean image.
What to expect
The default metadata-free PNG preserves browser-decoded pixels. Original-format JPG/WebP output is explicitly lossy. Visible text stays in the pixels.

Check before using the result

  • Check the exported file with a metadata inspector.
  • Cover visible addresses, faces or account details separately.

When the result needs work

This workspace does not display a before-and-after EXIF inventory. Filename changes and removing metadata do not anonymize recognizable image content.

Examples illustrate specific inputs and settings. Actual output size and appearance depend on your file and browser. Practice images are synthetic; they do not contain personal data.

A few useful answers.

More help

What metadata does this remove?

It removes embedded EXIF and similar metadata — including GPS location, camera make and model, lens settings, and timestamps — by re-encoding the image so only the pixels remain.

Why should I remove EXIF data?

Photos often embed your GPS location and device details. Stripping that metadata protects your privacy before you post or share an image.

Does it change how my image looks?

No. Only the hidden metadata is removed. The default PNG output preserves the browser-decoded pixels and transparency. Original-format JPG or WebP exports can lose quality; PNG can be larger.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Metadata is stripped locally in your browser. Image files are not uploaded. Processing metadata may be recorded; see our privacy policy.
