A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Know what a useful result looks like.

Cover private details before sharing a screenshot.

Try this workflow

Start with
The fictional-account practice graphic.
Set up
Use Solid cover and position the rectangle over the entire account block.
What to expect
The exported PNG contains an opaque replacement over the selected area. Blur and pixelation are visual effects and are weaker choices for sensitive text.

Check before using the result

  • Check the edges of the covered region.
  • Verify no duplicate private text remains elsewhere.
  • Remove embedded metadata separately if needed.

When the result needs work

Selection controls use percentages, so inspect the full-size export for small unmasked edges. Merely blurring text may leave it identifiable.

Examples illustrate specific inputs and settings. Actual output size and appearance depend on your file and browser. Practice images are synthetic; they do not contain personal data.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

More help

How do I hide a part of an image?

Open an image, drag over the area you want to cover or enter its position and size in the area controls. Choose a solid cover, pixelation or blur. You can also apply the effect to the entire image.

Which method should I use for private information?

Use a solid cover for sensitive text or details. Blur and pixelation can leave information recognizable. Ensure the selected area covers all the information you want hidden, then inspect the exported image.

Is the selection border included in the download?

No. The outline helps you position the edit and is not included in the exported PNG.

Are my images uploaded or stored?

No. These tools read and process image files locally in your browser. No account is required, and this workspace does not send filenames or editing results to our server.

Which images can I use?

Use JPG, PNG or WebP files up to 50 MB each, 8,192 pixels on either side and 32 megapixels in total. Animated files are processed as a still frame. For HEIC, use our HEIC to JPG converter first.
