A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Know what a useful result looks like.

Check actual dimensions and decoded transparency.

Try this workflow

Start with
A PNG that looks like it has a checkerboard background.
Set up
Open the image and review format, dimensions and transparency.
What to expect
The report describes the chosen file and decoded pixels. A checkerboard painted into an opaque image does not count as transparency.

Check before using the result

  • Compare file bytes with pixel dimensions.
  • Use Transparency Checker for exact alpha counts.

When the result needs work

This is an image-properties report rather than a camera/GPS metadata inspector. The decoded still frame may differ from the full contents of an animation.

Examples illustrate specific inputs and settings. Actual output size and appearance depend on your file and browser. Practice images are synthetic; they do not contain personal data.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

More help

What details can I check?

See the image format, opened pixel dimensions, original file size in bytes, simplified aspect ratio, megapixel count and whether any pixels are transparent. You can download these details as JSON.

Does this show EXIF or GPS data?

No. It reports file and pixel information, not camera metadata or GPS data. Use Remove EXIF if you want to strip embedded metadata before sharing.

Are my images uploaded or stored?

No. These tools read and process image files locally in your browser. No account is required, and this workspace does not send filenames or editing results to our server.

Which images can I use?

Use JPG, PNG or WebP files up to 50 MB each, 8,192 pixels on either side and 32 megapixels in total. Animated files are processed as a still frame. For HEIC, use our HEIC to JPG converter first.
