A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Know what a useful result looks like.

Embed a small image in a data URI without changing its bytes.

Try this workflow

Start with
A small PNG asset.
Set up
Choose Data URI for HTML/CSS, or raw Base64 for a system that supplies its own header.
What to expect
Copy and TXT export contain the complete encoding, even when the on-screen preview is shortened. Data URIs include the detected MIME type.

Check before using the result

  • Check the expected header format.
  • Keep large images as separate assets when possible.

When the result needs work

Base64 is encoding, not encryption or compression. It usually adds about one third to the byte count, and very large strings can be inconvenient for editors.

Examples illustrate specific inputs and settings. Actual output size and appearance depend on your file and browser. Practice images are synthetic; they do not contain personal data.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

More help

How large can my image be?

Use a JPG, PNG or WebP file up to 10 MB. Base64 is about one third larger than the original bytes, so it is generally best for small assets. Compress a large image first.

Why is the preview shortened?

The page shows only the first 500 characters to keep the interface responsive. Copy and Download include the entire string. Choose a data URI for a MIME-prefixed value or raw Base64 when your application requires it.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Image files and results stay in your browser. This workspace does not send filenames or editing results to our server, and you do not need an account.
