A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Know what a useful result looks like.

Emphasize existing edges while avoiding strong artifacts.

Try this workflow

Start with
A mildly soft image.
Set up
Start with a low sharpening amount and compare Original against Edited.
What to expect
The PNG preserves source dimensions and alpha while changing nearby color contrast. It does not invent accurate missing detail.

Check before using the result

  • Check high-contrast boundaries for halos.
  • Check noisy areas and small text at full size.

When the result needs work

The fitted preview can hide fine noise. Strong settings can make an already sharp image look worse; zero amount removes sharpening.

Examples illustrate specific inputs and settings. Actual output size and appearance depend on your file and browser. Practice images are synthetic; they do not contain personal data.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

More help

Can sharpening fix an out-of-focus photo?

Sharpening emphasizes existing edges. It cannot restore missing detail or reverse severe motion blur. Start with a low amount to avoid amplifying noise.

Does this change the image size?

No. The PNG download keeps the original pixel dimensions and transparency. Use the Original and Edited buttons to compare the preview.

Which files can I use?

Use JPG, PNG or WebP up to 50 MB, 8,192 pixels per side and 32 megapixels total. Animated files are processed as a still frame.

Are images uploaded?

No. Sharpening and PNG export run locally in your browser. No account is needed.
